Sanctuary Gardens
United States
Приєднався 20 бер 2020
We are a young couple with a desire to share our gardening journey. We hope our videos will encourage other people to dig in the dirt and grow something. We have patterned our garden layout after the Biblical Sanctuary and believe the garden is a special place to grow our relationship with God. Come alongside us and learn with us as we get dirty, try new things, laugh a lot, and encounter God.

i thought you might have a use for the stem part....because I somehow assumed it would taste like asparagus
Thanks for the tip. Have tiny strawbs growing for the first time and half of them have been chewed.
Do you think you can decorate the saucer only i.e., mosaic, colored stones, painted designs, etc?
I use Dr Earth instead of Down to Earth. Dr Earth actually lists their ingredients (which includes worm castings) instead of nibbling around the edges like DtE does. Question, you put this video out almost 2 years ago, I do not see a followup video showing the impact your work had on your yellowing blueberries. Did you do one that I missed?
I used the hulled out potato method to attract the pillbugs, and it is working wonderfully!!! Thank you so much!
so I should have not used table salt to kill the slugs
I have strawberries in a self-watering planter that are yellowing this year. Living in an arid environment, they get watered a TON and so I imagine lots of leaching has occurred, even with applications of compost and fertilizer. Some places say you don’t need to acidify the soil for strawberries, but I am considering amending this planter. Good, easy to follow instructions.
Please do a follow-up video
Thank you. I have had such a stressful time with my clay soil and I have all the materials you suggested; sand, etc. I have planted mine and I hope they do well. One thing I did not know is that they do not need a lot of water. Now I know why my others have not survived :( thanks for info.
Hi after 50 years gardening i have used nettles and brambles as a mulch chop up and change often basically we don't like getting stung and the slugs dont either happy gardening Richard x
Great
Im gonna grow strawberries soon i think
seems that everyone in US has bought into using this overpriced (for amount of sulfur you get) product, which has gypsum and binders added, so it can be granular form. but as a result, it contains less sulfur. gypsum is not an acidifier and it's super cheap. for a less capitalism infused product that is cheaper and has same sulfur that does the actual work, buy elemental sulfur from a pet supplies store, as they dont charge the garden store and label premium for nothing extra in product.
cool, you made a 5 year garden plan. it looks good after a few years
How do you get so many shoots? I bought “onion seed” that looks like little boiler onions they are so tiny. Ive grown so much but i ruined onions my first couple times but i think im ready now, i assume these are actual onion seeds from the flower opposed to pre grown and dried baby onions
Can you do a video about dealing with insect & bird problems? I planted some everbearing plants last year and seems like any time fruit ripens there is damage to the fruit. Thanks!
How many times a year do I use it
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What time of year should you plant it?
Rose hips have many health benefit, including pain relief and inflammation reduction according to the arthritis foundation :)
Sulfur, oak leaves, oak chips, and so on. A cousin uses 18 inches of wood chips for his. My sister, who lives in an area with limestone, planted rabbiteye, which are resistant to lime.
Screaming to the beginning literally scared me. Haha
What size are the pots?
I use a different method for protecting my vegetables like tomatoes, eggplants, peppers and the like, also some of my tropicals that get the most damage.Take a piece of aluminum foil and cut a 6-8 circle, cut a 1 inch hole in the center, then cut from the edge of the circle to the center of the hole so you can place it around the base of the plant like a collar, poke some drainage holes on the aluminum, place some pebbles on the edge of the aluminum foil collar to keep it in place. It works the same way copper does, interacts with the slime underbelly of the slug to give it a sock, they can not crawl over this "barrier " guaranteed.
:)
I did. They are looking great. I just picked a berry. I never knew this! The berry wasn't sweet at all. I came on looking for how to make them sweet. I think I need to go pluck those buds!
If it is a small area, add spent tea bags and dig them in to the soil or add them to a watering can and let stand for an hour or two before watering the acidified water on the plants.
Awesome I want to know what to do about the runners now I know what to do
Video
why does every American gardening video involve an expensive bag of chemicals? I soak wood chips in vinegar and spread around the base, egg shells soaked in vinegar would be better but i don't go through enough to cover my needs.
And vinegar washes away...i guess you from canada...alot of them complain about americans on something.
FYI FOR EVERYONE HERE, OLLAS IS THE WORD IN SPANISH FOR POTS! OYOS IS THE WORD IN SPANISH FOR HOLES! SO NO, YOU ARE NOT MAKING OLLAS BECAUSE THE POT ARE ALREADY MADE, YOU ARE PUTTING POTS TOGETHER TO MAKE A DEVICE THAT WILL HOLD WATER FOR A SLOW IRRIGATION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CREATIVITY, VERY NICE, BUT THE GLUE MAY LEACH OUT IN TO THE SOIL
I've read the slugs love bran, which when ingested, causes dessication and death
Hi, first time watching your channel. I don’t think it was a good idea to have a toddler breathing in the sulphur dust and my heart stopped when I saw him licking the scissors. 👀
Thanks for the information!🎉
❤
Day naturals are annuals so if you arent plantinng new plants each year then there everbearing or june. Watch MN state hartacultral socity video on day nutral strawberries will clear things up for you.
I'm going to definitely create those triangles for planting. I just planted beets and carrots today and used a tape measure. I've got plenty of cardboard, a sharpie, and a box cutter. It's going to make spacing my plants so much easier and faster. Thank you!
My experience is the opposite. My junebearing strawberries are twice as big as my everbearing berries. I think it’s because they only fruit once but maybe it’s different for everyone
So you haven’t given a dose rate in grams of sulphur per square metre. you’ve given “how many cups of my random brand fertiliser do I use”. Which isn’t helpful to anyone.
You can eat the pedals also on a salad don't throw it away
If you are so worried about depleting a non renewable resource (Peat) you should also avoid Azomite. It's also mined and is a non renewable resource.
How do I keep them from eating down my garage.
Genius! Thank you for sharing all your wisdom.
Talking about debunking myths. Sphagnum peat moss is a renewable resource. Just like oil is a renewable resource. Maybe the argument you were trying to make was that we are using it faster than it renews. That is a different argument.
Does the soil acidifer have a sulpher smell? I need something for my strawberries that are close to my home, so I don't want anything stinky.
This by far is the best video and explanation of raspberry prep I have seen so far! Thank you!
How do you grow it from the crown(tip)? Can you grow it just from the tip?
Fabulous! THank you for a clear, concise, well-illustrated and efficient tutorial.

How tall do you make the trellises going between planters?
